Atherton Golf Club

A very beautiful golf course on the city limits of Atherton in the state of Queensland. The small town lies on the tablelands at a height of about 700 meters, by an extinct volcano. It is particularly popular with tourists due to its mountainous rain-forest landscape and the numerous waterfalls. Atherton Golf Club has existed since 1925. It contains an 18-hole course with par 70. Situated in the northern part of the continent, the climate is warm but also very pleasant as a result of the mountainous location. The park offers a parkland course and a mixture of par 3, 4, and 5. The fairways are excellently maintained and irrigated, so that the greens with their lush Bermuda grass and the fairways with couch grass are always in perfect condition. Quite frequently, wallabies or platypuses cross the fairways, and tropical birds populate the tall rubber trees. Beautifully arranged ponds and canals shape the layout, and well-placed sand bunkers protect the holes. The Atherton Golf Club is open all year. Visitors are always welcome. The best time to travel is between April and September. At the pro shop, you can rent golf equipment, including electric buggies, although the course is not very long with its 5,588 or 5,223 meters. After the game, the club restaurant, which also offers meals, provides a great meeting place for a cold drink. The Atherton Golf Club is a wonderful place to golf and only about 90 minutes from Cairns by car.
