Cowglen Golf Club

Cowglen Golf Club is only ten minutes from downtown Glasgow. The 18-hole course was opened in 1906. In 1923, the parkland course was modernized and expanded by the well-known golf course architect James Braid. The 5,582-meter long course blends in harmoniously with the hilly landscape. The par 70 course is known for its terrifically-placed greens from which players can enjoy spectacular views of Glasgow and the Highlands. The course is varied and athletically challenging. Exact tees and strategical know-how are needed in order approach the well-guarded greens. Age-old trees frame the well-maintained fairways. The training area with a driving range and practice greens is excellent. It is counted among the best of its kind in the country and was recognized by the Scottish Golf Development Centre in 2013. There also a golf school on-site with profession instructors and a well-stocked Pro Shop. Electric trolley or carts can be rented. The club house is located on Barrhead Read between Pollokshaws Toll and the Silverburn Mall. The club also boasts a snack bar as well as a restaurant. The Cowglen Golf Club is easily reached by Glasgow via public transportation. Even Edinburgh is only an hour away by car. Both of the cities boast international airports.
