El Potrerillo de Larreta Resort & Country Club

El Potrerillo de Larreta Resort & Country Club is situated near the city of Alta Gracia in the central Argentinian province of Córdoba. It stretches across a hilly terrain of 430 hectares, surrounded by streams and boulders, that lies on the country estate El Potrerillo in the Sierras Chicas. From Alta Gracia’s center, El Potrerillo de Larreta Resort & Country Club is just 15 minutes away, while the trip from Córdoba via the RP 5 takes nearly an hour. In 1918, writer and diplomat Enrique Larreta acquired the club’s grounds. His nephew Ignacio Zuberbuhler inherited them in 1995 and first opened a 9-hole golf course in 1999. An 18-hole course with par 72 followed shortly thereafter, and golf course architects Angel Reartes and Marcos Capdepont oversaw its design. The course measures 6,549 meters and is shaped by long, narrow fairways densely lined with Algarrobo and Tala trees, large greens of different sizes, numerous doglegs and bunkers, as well as water hazards in the form of streams. A stream crosses holes 2, 3, and 6 to 8 on the first 9 holes, and a further stream runs through holes 11 to 13 on the second 9 holes, which are considered to be longer and more complicated. The championship course at El Potrerillo de Larreta Resort & Country Club is demanding for golfers of all levels and ranks among South America’s best courses.
