High above Bayreuth, Golf-Club Bayreuth e.V. spreads over an area of 130 hectares. The 18 hole championship course (par 72) as well as the 9 hole short course impress players not just with the view of the city famous for its music, the Festival Theatre and the Fichtel Mountains, but also with two excellent courses. Both courses were designed by the golf course architects Thomas Himmel and Joan F. Dudok van Heel and opened in 1994. The 18 hole course is a links course – a rarity in Germany. For training, Golf-Club Bayreuth e.V. has two putting and chipping greens, as well as a pitching green and 40 (partially covered) tees at the driving range. The club is very ambitious and hosts numerous championships. The golf school offers lessons as well as license and trial courses. There is a local Pro Shop with a wide assortment. Interested players can rent equipment including electric trolley or cart. Golf-Club Bayreuth e.V. is open eleven months a year. The golf course is very popular – every year, about 3500 players come to play golf. The club is easily accessible in just seven minutes from the city center or in less than five minutes from A9.
