Golf Club Wasserburg Anholt e.V.

In the border area between North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands, one can find the Golf Club Wasserburg Anholt e.V. in the Münsterland town Isselburg-Anholt. It is embedded in the nature reserve and local recreation area Anholter Schweiz and the park of the Wasserburg Anholt. The Golf Club Wasserburg Anholt e.V. is located five kilometers west of the city center of Isselburg and has an excellent transport connection because of its proximity to the Ruhr Area and the Netherlands. It was founded in the year 1972 and was integrated into the park of the moated castle from the 14th century with a beautiful view of it. The famous golf course architect Bernhard von Limburger is responsible for the design of the parkland type 18 hole course with par 72. The flat terrain, which is crossed by the two rivers Issel and Wolfstrang and contains age-old trees, is full of challenging hazards like wetlands, ponds and bunkers. Thus, it does not only require precision from the golfers but a long game as well. In 2012, the Golf Club Wasserburg Anholt e.V. was ranked by the Golf Magazine as one of the 50 best golf clubs in Germany and as the fourth best course in North Rhine-Westphalia. The practice area of the club offers a driving range with 28 tees, of which nine are covered, a pitching green, three putting greens and a bunker as well as an additional large putting green. During the winter months, teeing off can be practiced in the heated shed.
