Golf des Rochers Sévigné

The Golf des Rochers Sévigné golf club lies to the east of Rennes, not far from the Breton town of Vitré in the department of Ille-et-Vilain. It is built on the land of the Château des Rochers-Sévigné, a 15th century Gothic castle, where, for a long time, the famous writer Madame de Sévigné (17th century) lived and together with the castle, gave the club its name. Situated in the middle of Brittany, the Golf des Rochers Sévigné is easy to reach from the surrounding communes. The golf club can be reached in 10 minutes from Vitré by the D88 and is a half hour away from the next largest town, Rennes, by the N157. The 18 hole, par 72 course was opened in 1990, and was designed by golf course architect Jean-Claude Varrot. The athletically divisive, slightly hilly course is 5,806 meters long and is set with ancient pines and oaks, doglegs, bunkers and water hazards. Particular to the course is the Valière river, which snakes through the terrain, and hole 18, which has a stunning view of the Château des Rochers-Sévigné. The Golf des Rochers Sévigné built its clubhouse in an old stable of the castle, which complements the noble flair of the course. The practice area of the golf club offers a driving range, a putting green and a practice bunker.
