Golf & Landclub Schmitzhof e.V.

The Golf- und Landclub Schmitzhof e.V. is situated on the southwestern border of the town Wegberg-Merbeck in the nature park Maas-Schwalm-Nette near the Dutch border. Surrounded by forests, fields and marsh areas of the Lower Rhine Plain, it is located near the A52 and A46 so that the Golf- und Landclub Schmitzhof e.V. is quickly accessible from Mönchengladbach and Düsseldorf. The club, which was founded in 1975 on the verified estate of the farm Schmitzhof from the middle of the 19th century, has an 18 hole course with par 72 and a public 6 hole course with par 3. The 18 hole course was designed by the popular golf course architect Donald Harradine as a parkland type course. The flat terrain is characterized by cleverly arranged bunkers, water hazards and numerous old trees. A challenging game awaits beginners and practiced players alike. It is much easier to golf on the 6 hole course, which is perfect for beginners but also great for advanced players to warm up for the more challenging course. The practice area at the Golf- und Landclub Schmitzhof e.V. consists of a driving range with 15 tees, of which five are covered, and a separate putting and pitching area as well as two practice bunkers. Golf players can rent trolleys and purchase golf clothing and equipment at the Pro-Shop us’ Golf. In order to obtain a license to play golf courses, new golfers can visit the trial, beginners and practice classes taught by club pros with tournament experience.
