Methven Golf Club

The Methven Golf Club is considered one of the best golf facilities in New Zealand. It is located on the South Island, splendidly nestled in the unique landscape at the end of the Canterbury Plains, which border the fantastic natural environment of the Southern Alps. The course offers a blend of breathtaking views of the (mountainous) landscape, with excellent fairways and greens that are very well tended and lined with trees, as well as a cheerful ambience. On top of that, the Methven Golf Club is conveniently located just an hour’s drive from Christchurch Airport. The drive leads over Route 72, which extends through enchanting natural surroundings that are worth the trip in and of itself. The 18 hole, par-72 course measures 5,701 meters and is well suited for golfers of all handicaps. It is a very pretty public course, constructed in 1924, with a layout characterized by water hazards and bunkers. Guests are very welcome, but ladies and gentlemen are expected to have a handicap of at least 36. The 19th hole of the Methven Golf Club has a great reputation.
