Near Georgia’s border lies the Midland Valley Golf Club in the village Graniteville in Aiken County, found in the US state of South Carolina. It expands across a hilly site and is traversed by a creek, a small branch of the Sand River. The Midland Valley Golf Club can be reached very quickly, from Graniteville’s center within 5 minutes and from the neighboring Aiken in 12 minutes. Even if you are coming from Georgia’s capital Augusta, you can reach the club in less than half an hour via the US-78 E. It opened an 18-hole course with par 71 in 1961, designed by Ellis Maples. The course measures 6,262 meters and is characterized by large, wide fairways flanked by high pine trees, as well as large, undulating greens. There are notable altitude differences on this terrain, which runs uphill as well as downhill. The obstacles of Midland Valley Golf Club are a few doglegs and bunkers in front of and next to the greens with accompanying water hazards at three holes. At holes 3 and 6, golfers must make well thought out tees across large lakes that cross the entire fairway. The signature hole on this athletically challenging course is hole 3, where you must make a brave swing uphill over a lake and also over a deep bunker in front of the green.
