Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club

The Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club is situated near the southern Chinese coastal town of Sanya on the southern part of the island of Hainan. It covers an area of 1.7 square kilometers in the southern part of the peninsula Luhuitou and stretches across the white sandy beaches by the southern Chinese sea. From Sanya’s city center, the Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club is comfortably reachable in half an hour. It was opened in 2009 and provides an 18-hole parkland/links course with par 72, for which American golf course architects Robin Nelson and Neil Haworth supplied the design. The course measures 6,684 meters and runs across relatively flat grounds. The mostly long fairways are bordered by coconut palms, while the partly large greens are protected by very many, for the most part enormous bunkers. Numerous water hazards such as lakes and ponds determine the layout of the course at the Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club. Water comes into play at 14 of the 18 holes, and holes 4 to 6, 8, 9, 14, 15, 17, and 18 demand long shots across water. The 5th hole awaits with a pretty island green. The golf course’s entire area is equipped with floodlights for the popular activity of night golfing. The two-storey driving range with 40 tees in the club’s practice area is also illuminated. For training purposes, there is also a short game area.
