The Silver Ridge Golf Course lies in the city of Oregon in Ogle County, which is located in the US state of Illinois. It is situated near the banks of the Rock River, and Coon Creek flows through it. From Oregon’s city center, the Silver Ridge Golf Course is just five minutes away via the IL-2 N, while the trip from Chicago requires 102 minutes via the Interstate 88 W. It was opened in 1974 as an 18-hole parkland course with par 72. Lowell Biggs was responsible for its design, creating a 6,405 meter long course with long fairways lined by trees and large greens that are well protected by bunkers. 9 of the 18 holes feature water hazards, consisting mainly of narrow streams and a few ponds. Golfers must play across water at holes 2, 3 11 and 14, which is fairly easy to achieve due to the narrowness of the water hazards. Holes 7 and 13 are more difficult, since solitary trees and small groups of trees constrict the fairways. Five different tee boxes are available on the fairways to offer golfers a number of degrees of difficulty for their golf game. The moderate layout of the athletically rather demanding Silver Ridge Golf Course is therefore easy to tackle for golfers of all handicaps.
