Willbrook Plantation

The golf club Willbrook Plantation is not far away from the city Pawleys Island in Georgetown County, which belongs to the US state of South Carolina. It winds across the site of a former rice plantation from the late 18th century and lies amidst old oak trees, meadows, marshlands and wetlands. The Willbrook Plantation golf club can be reached in 13 minutes from Pawley Island’s inner city via the US-17 N and Willbrook Blvd. From Myrtle Beach you will need 35 minutes to get to the club. It opened an 18-hole course with par 72 in 1986, its design created by the notable golf course architect Dan Maples. He created a 6,146-meter-long course with fairways densely lined by oak trees, a few doglegs and several bunkers and water hazards at 12 holes. For the Willbrook Plantation course, golfers should master a good tee, because not only do they have to play across creeks, lakes and ponds at holes 2, 5, 6 and 15 to 17, but they also have to deal with huge bunkers protecting the green at holes 12 and 13. At hole 6, an island green that is surrounded by bunkers on all four sides awaits golfers that can master challenging layouts. Willbrook Plantation was chosen as one of the “Places to Play” by Golf Digest in 2006, and was ranked 25th of USA’s golf courses by Golf For Women.
