Calliope Country Club

A beautiful golf facility near Gladstone, a small town in central Queensland near the Pacific. The Calliope Country Club was opened in 1970. The club’s 18-hole course (par 72) is 6,027 meters long. Gentle elevations shape the terrain and beautiful views of the landscape with a bordering brook delight golfers. Calliope Country Club’s park features excellently maintained greens. Numerous water hazards and bunkers intervene in the course, making it diverse and tricky in parts, for example at the course’s highlight, hole 5. It is a par 3 with a length of 131 meters, which leads to an elevated green across water. For long hitters, the next green is basically perfect: Hole 6 with par 5 is played blindly and is a total of 549 meters long. Hole 18 is probably the most difficult on the course: par 4, 382 meters long, with a right dogleg, a water hazard, and the elevated green at the end. After finishing the round, golfers like to meet at little club bistro. Guests are always welcome after registering at the Calliope Country Club, which also possesses a beautiful bowling green. The small town with the pretty name is named after the ship Calliope, with which Sir Charles Augustus FitzRoy, the governor of New South Wales, reached the nearby safe harbor of Port Curtis.
