Damai Golf & Country Club

The Damai Golf & Country Club lies near the Malaysian town of Kuching in the state of Sarawak, which is located in the northwestern part of the island of Borneo. It winds through an area of 36 hectares along the sandy beach of Teluk Bandung on the peninsula of Damai on the southern Chinese ocean. Situated at the foothills of Mount Santubong, the Damai Golf & Country Club offers a wonderful view of the mountain landscape and the ocean. From Kuching’s center, the club can be reached in about half an hour. The club was opened in 1996 and features an 18-hole course with par 72 which was designed by the famous golf course architects Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. Measuring 6,318 meters, the course runs along hilly terrain for the 9 mountain holes and along the beach for the 9 ocean holes. It presents doglegs, small greens, large, deep bunkers, and especially water hazards at all 18 holes. At 10 of the holes, golfers must play across lakes, ponds, and water streams. As an added difficulty, the 8th hole also features a high stone wall. Hole 8 is the longest par 5 at the Damai Golf & Country Club and also the third largest hole in Malaysia. Furthermore, the course is the first golf course that Arnold Palmer created on Malaysian ground.
