Golf de Bitche

The Golf de Bitche golf club is right on the outskirts of the town of Bitche in the department of Moselle in the region of Lorraine in eastern France. Its 80 hectares lie in the center of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve regional natural park of Vosges du Nord, on the sandstone plateau which is part of the Nordvogesen Kindelberg. It also allows for stunning panoramic views of the historic citadel of Bitche, which in the 17th century, was built by Vauban. Thanks to its proximity to the German border, the Golf de Bitche has excellent transport links to the towns of Zweibrücken and Pirmasens in Rheinland-Palatinate, from which the club can be reached in half an hour by the D35A and the D162A. Established in 1988, the golf club has a 27 hole, par 73 course at its disposal, which was deigned by the golf course architect duo Marc Adam and Patrick Fromanger. They created the arrangement of the 3 sections of 9 holes, A, B and C, which are laid out like a park. The very narrow fairways edged by many trees, broad greens and over 120 bunkers on very hilly ground of 6,169 meters in length demand athleticism, technique and tactics from golfers. One of the bunkers on hole 3B is a real obstacle belonging to the famous Maginot Line. The course of the Golf de Bitche, which is counted among the most beautiful in eastern France, partly runs through dense mixed forests and finishes at the large Wissembourg vineyard.
